Colorado Private and Public Land Elk Hunts

* Hunts with this outfitter take place in the San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado. This outfitter has leased the hunting rights to several private ranches and these require specific tags that historically have been guaranteed in the annual drawing. They also hunt the surrounding public land as well.
* Public land hunters typically stay in comfortable wall tents while the private land hunters stay in a rustic cabin. All hunts, regardless of public or private include the guide, meals, lodging, local transportation (including airport pickup if needed), game retrieval and game care.
* Tags can be purchased over the counter or online for the Archery, 2nd rifle and 3rd rifle seasons. The private land tags as well as 1st and 4th rifle seasons do require a drawing. However, no points are required to draw the private land tags, while a single point is typically enough to draw the rifle tags.
* Most elk taken are respectable 5x5 and 6x6 bulls. Some bulls will score in excess of 300 inches.
* Hunts are guided with a 2x1 ratio unless arranged otherwise.
* This outfitter also offers a drop camp option. These drop camps include a tent, oversized cot. sleeping pad, cooking utensils, cook stove, propane heater and wood stove. Hunters will be responsible to provide their own food, sleeping bag and personal equipment.
